Alexandria riverbank filled with zydeco sound this weekend

Arna Bontemps Museum presents "Zydabaam" at Alexandria Ampitheater

The Arna Bontemps African American Museum presents ZYDABAAM, a Zydeco concert, Saturday, March 29, beginning at 6 p.m.

Featured performers will be Nathan and the Zydeco Cha Chas and Little Nathan and the Zydeco Big Timers.

DJ Justin Metoyer, also known as "The Music Man", will be laying the beat and teaching Zydeco lessons during the pre-show at the Alexandria Amphitheater in downtown Alexandria.

Tickets are $15.00 for general admission and can be purchased at the Alexandria/Pineville Area Convention & Visitors Bureau, Smiley's Barber Shop in Alexandria, Joey Williams Allstate and online at

Tables for ten people are also available for $200.00. Call (318) 442-9546 to purchase tables.

Food and drink coolers are allowed, but no glass containers or bottles. Food vendors will be on-site. Rain site is the Alexandria Fulton Hotel.

ZYDABAAM is a fundraising concert for the Arna Bontemps African American Museum. The museum is the restored childhood home of Arna Bontemps - poet, author, anthologist, and librarian - who was considered the leading authority of the Harlem Renaissance. The Museum is located on Third Street within Alexandria's Cultural Arts District.
