ANGOLA, LA (WVLA) — Local rapper Lil' Boosie is a free man.
A spokesperson from the Department of Corrections said Lil' Boosie (real name Torrence Hatch) was released from the Louisiana State Prison around 7:05 p.m. Wednesday night. He was transported by prison staff to the West Feliciana Parish substation in St. Francisville, where his lawyer, Jill Craft, picked him up.
Lil' Boosie started serving an eight year sentence for drug charges in September 2009. He was also charged with first-degree murder and acquitted.
He expected to speak at a news conference in New Orleans on Monday.
