Army Reserve brigade will provide free medical & veterinary care to Miss-Lou residents

The Town of Ferriday with the assistance of the Delta Leadership Network has partnered with the U.S. Army Resever 8th Medical Brigade to bring an Innovative Readiness Training (IRT) mission to the people of Concordia, Catahoula, and Tensas Parishes and Adams County, Miss. This mission is being called Delta Care Project 2013.

The 8th Medical Brigade will provide high quality medical, dental, veterinary and eye care, increase awareness of preventive health care measures.  The program will take place August 8-16 at Central Louisiana Technical College in Ferriday.

The 8th Medical Brigade will deploy subordinate medical, dental, veterinary and optical units to Ferriday August 6. The project's mission is to improve the overall wellness of the citizens and pets of Ferriday and the surrounding area.

Innovative Readiness Training provides real world training opportunities for our service members and units to prepare them for their wartime missions while supporting the needs of America's underserved communities.

The purpose of the Civil-Military Programs like IRT is to improve military readiness while simultaneously providing quality services to communities throughout America. These programs are in keeping with a long military tradition, leveraging training to benefit both units and their home communities. They are strongly supported by The Department of Defense (DoD), Congress, the states and communities.
