Body found in Gulf identified as missing worker from Black Elk Energy platform
PORT FOURCHON, LA (NBC33) — The U.S. Coast Guard confirms that the missing worker from the Black Elk Energy platform explosion was found in the Gulf of Mexico
Officials say the body o Jerome Malagapo was recovered at roughly 11:30 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 26. Reports say the body was discovered roughly three miles from shore.
The body was taken to Port Fourchon and sent to the Jefferson Parish Coroner’s Office for autopsy and confirmation of identity.
The explosion happened on Nov. 16, 2012 and killed two additional workers. The body of Ellroy Corporal was recovered from the Gulf of Mexico near the platform. The second worker, Avelino Tajonera, was critically burned and died while receiving treatment in the burn unit of the Baton Rouge General Hospital.
