Former governors meet to discuss changes in Louisiana, taxes
Baton Rouge, La — A rare meeting of all four living former governors of Louisiana took place at an LSU government panel.
Edwin Edwards, Buddy Roemer, Mike Foster, and Kathleen Blanco met today to discuss the changes the state has experienced in the last 40 years.
But mostly, they talked taxes.
Roemer said Louisiana has experienced a lot of growth, but it's not enough. He says surrounding states are doing better, and he wants to see that change.
He says Jindal is doing a good job, but tax reform is necessary to bring in money.
"I really applaud Bobby Jindal for having the courage,” stated Roemer. “I think he was ill prepared. I don’t think it was a comprehensive plan, but he had the courage to set it on the table. We need tax reform, we need to be competitive, and we need to grow as a state.”
Each of the Jindal’s Think Louisiana proposals are a move in the right direction, they just think it needs to move a little faster.
