Advance Innovative Education (AIE) will host its third annual Grant Writing Collaborative to teach educational leaders how to creatively procure resources and funding for their schools.

The Boo Grisby Foundation has awarded AIE a $5,000 grant to host the collaborative, which will be held on July 13 from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Louisiana Resource Center for Educators, 5550 Florida Blvd.

The Grant Writing Collaborative will help educators understand the ins and outs of locating, researching and applying for corporate, foundation and government grants. The agenda includes panel discussions with area grant makers and one-on-one consulting with participants. The program cost is $10 and is limited to current and former participants in AIE’s leadership development and certification program, Redesigning Lessons, Re-envisioning Principals.

Redesigning Lessons, Re-envisioning Principals is AIE’s certification program that develops teachers into principals, allowing them to positively impact student achievement, take on leadership roles to help drive reform, and restore challenged schools in the Greater Baton Rouge area.

“AIE has a history of successfully collaborating with individuals and groups to address gaps in education and build strategically targeted solutions to rehabilitate challenged schools ,” says AIE Executive Director, Michael Eskridge. “As an innovative partner, AIE can help all stakeholders in the Baton Rouge education community work toward a common goal: increase student success. We cannot thank the Boo Grigsby Foundation enough for their support.”

The Boo Grigsby Foundation’s support also helps propel the mission of AIE and its efforts to provide systemic change in public education in the Greater Baton Rouge area, says Eskridge. The AIE Grant Writing Collaborative is evidence of how the organization is making that change a reality. Participants in attendance at AIE’s grant writing session are members of a diverse educational community with a mission: to provide greater opportunities for the success of their students.
