Jindal: Waters will remain high for several days; heat a factor
BATON ROUGE, LA (WVLA) — Governor Jindal has held daily press conferences since Monday, Aug. 27 to update citizens on the state’s efforts for issues related to Hurricane Isaac. Today, his focus has shifted to the continued challenges that will play out over the days to come.
“Even though the storm has moved out of state, we will continue to see some challenges with high water areas around the state,” Gov. Jindal, said. “We expect Ascension parish to issue a voluntary evacuation near St. Amant because of rising water.”
The voluntary evacuation order was issued in Ascension due to the rising waters. We’re told roughly 8,000 people will be impacted. A shelter is now open at the Lamar Dixon Expo Center to house those in need.
Search and recovery efforts have been a priority focus and Governor Jindal detailed all of the resources that have been provided for those efforts.
