BATON ROUGE, La. -- Jordan Jefferson's attorney pleaded not guilty yesterday to one count of simple battery on behalf of the former LSU quarterback.

The misdemeanor charge is in connection to the fight in which he was allegedly involved at Shady's Bar in Baton Rouge back in August.  The fight caused Jefferson to be suspended by Coach Les Miles and LSU for the first four weeks of the 2011 college football season.

Jefferson was originally charged with second degree battery, a felony charge that was later reduced.

Jefferson is scheduled to be back in court on May 10, 2012.
