Kleinpeter Dairy begin 'Name the Calf' contest for Sweetie Pie
BATON ROUGE, La. (WGMB) — Kleinpeter Farms Dairy is conducting a name the calf contest for the calf born to celebrity cow Sweetie Pie Kleinpeter at the Kleinpeter Dairy farm last month. The female calf was born at 12:00 a.m., July 3, 2012.
The calf's mom is Jersey cow Sweetie Pie Kleinpeter, who was born in 2009 with a heart shaped mark matching the company's logo. Her dad is Duke Kleinpeter, an unusually friendly Jersey bull. The name the calf contest that resulted in Sweetie Pie's name led to more than 3,000 name suggestions.
To suggest a name for Sweetie Pie's calf, go to www.kleinpeterdairy.com. The winner of the contest will receive a personal tour of the Kleinpeter Dairy Farm in Montpelier, La., plus a half gallon of Kleinpeter ice cream. The contest is running through August 24th.
In a related matter, the winners of the "guess the calf's weight" contest conducted by Clear Channel Communications stations in Baton Rouge are Samantha Davenport, of Baton Rouge, Scott Fontenot, of Livingston, and Beverly Hardy, of Prairieville. All three correctly guessed that Sweetie Pie's calf was born weighing 60 pounds and are receiving 60 pounds worth of Kleinpeter Ice Cream.
Jeff Kleinpeter, President and CEO, Kleinpeter Farms Dairy says both contests are ways to remind the public that the Kleinpeter milk they buy in stores comes from real animals owned by a local family that cares for them.
"All our cows receive the best care possible. They all have names, and we consider them to be a part of our family," Kleinpeter said.
