The Louisiana State Senate will hold its 9th Annual Military Family Day to honor Louisiana Fallen Heroes and their families on Tuesday, May 7th, at 1:30 p.m., during the legislative session in the Senate Chamber at the State Capitol.

The following Louisiana soldiers will be honored: Louisiana Army National Guard Sergeant Michael Norbert Perry, Jr., United States Navy Air Crewman Joseph "JP" Fitzmorris, United States Marine Lance Corporal Esrom "Izzy" Joseph, Louisiana Army National Guard Sergeant Kevin Weiner, United States Marine Sergeant Michael J. Guillory, Louisiana Army National Guard Specialist Ryan Michael Delrie, Airforce Technical Sergeant Larry Dolan Bunn, Army Chief Warrant Officer Bryan J. Henderson, and Army Lieutenant Colonel Don C. Faith, Jr.

Since the 2005 legislative session, the Louisiana Senate has honored 180 fallen soldiers from Louisiana serving in the U.S. military who have sacrificed their lives in defense of our freedoms. This year, these nine fallen heroes will be honored with a resolution for each, authored and read by Senator Robert Adley (R-Benton), a veteran of the Vietnam War and United States Marine Corps, and will be passed by the entire membership during the legislative session. Each resolution will be given to the soldier's family along with a state flag. The ceremony will begin at 1:30 p.m. in the Senate Chamber, and a balloon release will be held immediately following the program on the steps of the State Capitol. The families of the fallen soldiers and all military families are invited and encouraged to attend.

Senator Adley commented, "Military Family Day is a very special day here in the Louisiana Senate where we officially recognize and honor our brave military heroes killed defending our rights and freedoms. We want to make sure that our military families know that we have not forgotten and will never forget the sacrifices made by them and their loved ones."
