Le Tour de Bayou comes to Alexandria
ALEXANDRIA, La. — Mark your calendars, air up your tires, wash your tennis and get ready to ride, roll, walk or stroll along the bayou. The first annual Le Tour de Bayou, hosted by Kent Plantation House will be held Saturday, September 15, 2012.
This new and exciting fundraising effort combines a healthy lifestyle with fun and adventure! Le Tour de Bayou is a scenic cycling tour throughout the bayou region of Central Louisiana. There will be four levels of participation for cycling enthusiasts:
* 100 mile ride
* 66 mile ride
* 25 mile ride
* 2 mile family fun ride/walk
* 5k run/walk
All events will begin and end at Kent Plantation House, 3601 Bayou Rapides Road in Alexandria.
Team participation is a great way to support Kent House. As an added incentive, the team with the most participating members will receive a $500 donation to the charity of their choice. Any combination of participation is welcome with a 100, 66, and 25 mile ride as well as a 5K run/walk and a 2 mile family fun ride/walk. There is an event for everyone and every skill level.
The first riders will take off at 6:30 am Saturday morning, with the last group leaving at 9 am. There will be activities throughout the day for families and friends of participants, and the House and all the outbuildings will be open for complimentary tours. There will also be demonstrations of soap and candle making, butter churning, open hearth cooking, quilting and even a blacksmith. Raising Cane's will sponsor a Kid's Zone for all day children's activities.
Friday evening, September 14, there will be an evening dinner at Kent House for participants, families and friends, beginning at 6:30 pm. Musical entertainment will be provided by Bayou Degradable, a local band that specializes in music for all.
