Thursday, June 7, 2012 - 2:30am

A Louisiana chef wins a national cooking competition.

Cory Bahr of Monroe takes top prize on the Food Network show Chopped.

Raised by his grandparents in northeast Louisiana, he said he wanted to win for them.

Bahr is the owner and head chef at the Cotton Restaurant in Monroe.

He defeated three other chefs on the show and took home $10,000.

The challenge on Chopped is to take a mystery basket of ingredients and turn them into a dish that is judged on their creativity, presentation and taste all within a time limit.
