Nearly 3,000 in shelters across Louisiana

As of this evening, there were an estimated 2,937 people in shelters across the state.

The current population at all state-run shelters (both Critical Transportation Needs and Medical Special Needs) was 653 evacuees. There were 516 evacuees at the Alexandria mega-shelter, 112 medical special needs evacuees at the LSU Field House and 25 at the Alexandria medical special needs shelter.

There are an estimated 2,284 evacuees located at other parish run and Red Cross shelters around the state. Of those, 1,576 were at parish-run shelters in impacted areas, and 708 were located at Red Cross shelters around the state.
