April is National Child Abuse Awareness Month, and the Rapides Children's advocacy Center is challenging the community to come together for support. The center on Tuesday launched the "We Are One" child sponsorship campaign, to lessen the trauma endured by abused neglected children throughout the community.

"When abused and neglected children are given the chance for a safer life, it breaks the cycle of abuse, strengthening our community's future," said Wade Bond, Executive Director of the agency. "When you invest in the Rapides Children's Advocacy Center, you invest in a better future for all children in our community."

Since 1995, the Rapides Children Advocacy Center has worked to ensure accountability, justice and child safety throughout every step of the investigation, trial and foster care placement.  Three programs – the center itself, trauma-focused therapy and CASA volunteers – provide children with the proper help needed to cope and eventually overcome the traumatic experiences they have endured.
