SHREVEPORT, La. — A Shreveport man accused of severely injuring a 3-month-old child is behind bars following an investigation by local authorities.
On Monday, at 11:00 p.m., detectives arrested Lawrence Wright, 31, of Shreveport, for hurting a baby that was left in his care, according to the Shreveport Police Department.
Officers were first alerted to the incident when a hospital employees informed police that a child had arrived in the pediatric emergency room with a major head injury.
Officials from the Louisiana Department of Social Services worked alongside Shreveport detectives in an investigation that ultimately linked Wright to the baby's injuries.
Following interviews, Wright was arrested and charged with cruelty to a juvenile. He was booked into the Shreveport City Jail.
The child, who is said to be in serious but stable condition, is expected to recover from his injuries.
Investigators are still working to determine what led to the child being injured.
