Synthetic marijuana discovery leads to permit suspensions, arrests

The Office of Alcohol and Tobacco Control (ATC) Commissioner Troy Hebert issues an immediate suspension of alcohol and tobacco permits for an Alexandria business found selling synthetic marijuana.

A joint operation was conducted on November 20, 2013 involving ATC, the Alexandria Police Department, Pineville Police Department and Rapides Parish Sheriff’s Office. During the operation, several convenience stores throughout Rapides Parish were checked for possible drug activity.
While conducting a search at King City #2, 2901 3rd St., Suite B, in Alexandria, ATC K-9 Agent Ace detected synthetic marijuana on the premise. Agents located approximately 566 packages of product that later tested positive as synthetic marijuana.

The Alexandria Police Department arrested three individuals:

Hashem Aldalaly
3 counts of possession of CDS 1 with intent to distribute
1 count of illegal carrying of firearms in possession of CDS

Samuel Washington Jr.
3 counts possession of CDS 1 with intent to distribute

Mamoon Sadek Mohamed
3 counts possession of CDS 1 with intent to distribute

On January 15, 2014, ATC Commissioner Troy Hebert issued an immediate suspension of alcohol and tobacco permits held by King City #2. An administrative hearing will be held in Baton Rouge concerning the suspension.
