“AMERICAN IDOL” producers speak out on Minaj-Carey dispute

Tuesday, October 9, 2012 - 1:39am

The producers of American Idol have spoken out after last week's fiery dispute between judges Nicki Minaj and Mariah Carey.

They say the line up of judges on the FOX singing competition which also includes Keith Urban and Randy Jackson is one of the best and most passionate panels it's ever had.

The producers downplayed media speculation about the blow up, saying production is going well and the judges are focused on finding top talent.
The recorded battle has produced quite a buzz.

Thursday, Barbara Walters told "The View's" audience that Carey told her she was hiring extra security after Minaj said she'd shoot Carey if she had a gun.

Minaj shot back with a steady stream of tweets and denied Carey's claims, but some are convinced the feud is simply an act.
