Folk musician Doc Watson passed away at 89

Grammy award winning Folk musician Doc Watson has died at 89 years old. Watson passed away Tuesday in a North Carolina hospital. The musician who's been blind almost all his life was famous for his flat-picking style on the guitar and his interpretations of folk songs from by-gone eras. Watson won 7-Grammy awards including the one for lifetime achievement.

A charity run by Mary J. Blige has come under fire. TD Bank is accusing the woman's foundation of failing to pay back loans. Musicians are complaining they performed at a benefit and were never paid. The IRS says the charity failed to file its 2010 tax return. Mary J. Blige says she's working quickly to make things right.

Rock legend Bob Dylan was among an eclectic group selected this year to receive the Presidential Medal of Freedom. President Obama said there's no bigger giant in the history of music. He's still chasing that sound, he's still searching for a little bit of truth, and I have to say that I am a really big fan. The Medal of Freedom is the nation's highest civilian honor. Other recipients included former Secretary of State Madeleine Albright, novelist Toni Morrison and astronaut John Glenn.
