A 'Katniss' for New Orleans 'Hunger Games' Spoof
NEW ORLEANS, LA (NBC33) — You knew it was coming: A Hunger Games spoof.
But did you know the movie is set to start filming in Louisiana? According to The Hollywood Reporter scenes for The Starving Games will be shot in the New Orleans area, starting the last week in October. According to the website, actress Maiara Walsh nabbed the starring role of 'Kantmiss Evershot'.
Its a much different role for Walsh who is known for more dramatic roles like 'Sarah' on CW's The Vampire Diaries. She also played Eva Longoria’s niece on Desperate Housewives.
The role is obviously mocking the original bow and arrow shooting heroine 'Katniss Everdeen' played by Jennifer Lawrence.
The Starving Games script was written by Jason Friedberg and Aaron Seltzer the duo behind comedies like Date Movie, Meet the Spartans and Vampires Suck. According the Hollywood Reporter the movie will poke fun of not only the Suzanne Collins book series but also The Avengers, Sherlock Holmes and the finale of the Harry Potter franchise.
Playing the spoof-version of Gale, IMDB reports that role will be played by Brant Daugherty from Pretty Little Liars.
