Magic Johnson launches cable network
HOLLYWOOD, Calif. (WGMB) — Magic Johnson is already a successful business man. He owns an empire of movie theatres, fitness centers, and owns a chunk of the Los Angeles Dodgers. Maybe you can add media mogul to his resume. Johnson launched a new basic cable network today. It's called "Aspire," and it will highlight the positive achievements of the African American community and everything on it will be family friendly.
A health scare is forcing R Kelly to take a break from promoting his new memoir. In a statement, the artist's rep says he's likely suffering complications from last year's vocal cord surgery to treat an abscess. Kelly was forced to cancel a book party and appearances on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon and NBC’s The Today Show.
Fans certainly believe in Justin Bieber. The pop star's latest offering, Believe, is his fourth number one album, and the biggest debut of the year, according to Billboard. There were 374,000 copies sold the first week, and that's a personal best for the Beibs. He's also on top in 30 other countries.
Oprah Winfrey is keeping up with the Kardashians. The Chicago Sun-Times reports the queen of talk will make an appearance on an upcoming episode of the Kardashians' reality series. Quoting a source close to Winfrey, the Times says Oprah truly bonded with the famous family when they taped a two-part appearance on Winfrey's "Own" network.
