Cancer Baby Facebook hoax resurfaces

Scam based on old classic
TECH NEWS (WGMB) -- Scammers get a kick out of seeing how many shares a post can get on Facebook as well as other social networking sites. That’s one reason for the latest re-post scam.
The claim is more or less and updated version of a classic. The poster says that Facebook will pay 3 cents towards helping a child with cancer every time an appeal for help is shared.
The post is personalized further by including an image of a sleeping child with a massive facial tumor. The image prompts many to share the link, never questioning whether it’s true or not.
According to Snopes.com, a site devoted to debunking the best in online rumors and urban legends, this hoax has circulated the net since at least mid-2007.
