GOHSEP director advises residents to have hurricane preparedness plan

Monday, June 4, 2012 - 2:59pm

The new director of GOHSEP, Kevin Davis, says being prepared for Hurricane Season is critical.

The season hasn't officially started, and there have already been two named storms in the Atlantic.

Davis says that means it's very important to make sure you're ready.

“It brings to the forefront, to us, to make sure that we have a plan,” stated Davis. “If there’s a power outage – if you're not right in the line of possible hurricanes – you need a plan for all those things that you might need.”

Davis advises getting items like batteries and an AM/FM radio.

GOHSEP says they're also going to each parish in the state to update training for first responders. Davis says 16,000 will be trained across the state.
