Mardi Gras Cluster Dog Show to remain in Alexandria
Event to continue at Alexandria Riverfront Center through 2016
ALEXANDRIA, LA — Following one of its most successful shows ever with a record number of entries over the four day period, both the Baton Rouge Kennel Club and the Alexandria Kennel Club are pleased to announce that the Mardi Gras Cluster Dog Show will remain in Alexandria for the next two years.
The clubs have signed a contract with the Alexandria Riverfront Center keeping the show in its present location through 2016. The show dates are Thursday, January 22 through Sunday, January 25, 2015 and Thursday, January 28 through Sunday, January 31, 2016.
“We’re very happy to keep the show in the town that has welcomed us with open arms” Baton Rouge Kennel Club President Holly Reed said. “We have to thank both Mayor Jacques Roy and the City of Alexandria for allowing us to have the show in this wonderful facility, and we look forward to another successful year.” Ms. Reed added.
Alexandria Kennel Club Show Chair Keith Bonin added “Since we have partnered with the Baton Rouge Kennel Club, our show has become one of the premier shows in the south. We have received comments from other handlers asking if the show will continue in its present location, and we can now assure them that we are ready to go.”
According to officials at the Alexandria/Pineville Convention and Visitors Bureau, the 2013 show was estimated to have brought in approximately $200,000 into the local economy.
