Grand re-opening set for October 16
CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Construction is set to begin May 28 on a remodeling of Belk at Natchez Mall in Natchez, Miss. representing a $2 million investment by the company. The project will enable the store to greatly expand its lines of fashion brands and merchandise assortments.
The renovated 77,000-square-foot store will feature an updated decor including new display fixtures in the shoes and accessories departments. The remodeling is scheduled to be completed in late September prior to the store’s grand re-opening on October 16, 2013. The store will remain open throughout the project.
“We’re updating our store to provide an enhanced shopping experience for our loyal customers in the Natchez community,” said Mary Flach, store manager. “We believe customers will love the new brands and style assortments that we’ll be adding throughout the store. In the meantime, we urge customers to be patient with us as our remodeling takes place. We will do all we can to minimize any inconvenience during the construction work.”
The store remodeling will result in many improvements designed to enhance customer convenience and satisfaction, said Flach. For example, the ladies shoe departments will expand by nearly 30 percent and will introduce new premium brands that include Ralph Lauren, Calvin Klein, Sam Edelman, Kenneth Cole Reaction, Korks and Nine West. Men’s shoes will more than double in space and offer such new brands as Ralph Lauren and Calvin Klein. The fashion jewelry department is also being enlarged and will feature open fixtures to make shopping easier. Modern jewelry brands being added include CYNTHIA Cynthia Rowley, BCBG, Fossil, Jessica, Kenneth Cole, Lucky, and Nine West.
Other merchandise areas being expanded as part of the remodel include ladies suits, intimate apparel and men’s better sportswear, furnishings and big and tall.
New brands for men will include Belk’s exclusive MADE Cam Newton blazers, suits and sportswear and UnderArmour, and Polo is being added for infants and toddlers.
“The improvements demonstrate our ongoing commitment to serving Natchez,” said Flach. “We want to satisfy the Southern lifestyle needs of our customers like no one else and deliver the fashion they desire and the value they deserve.”
The store originally opened at Natchez Square as a McRae’s store in 1977, and was converted to Belk in 2005 when the company acquired the McRae’s and Proffitt’s stores.
