Annual 'Close to Home' program brings attention to area attractions
ALEXANDRIA, LA — Tommy Tourist continues to discover the area’s great attractions this summer during the annual Close to Home Program – and this year, he is taking you along!
Tommy will make his first stop Tuesday, July 2, 2013, at the Alexandria Museum of Art, followed by River Oaks Square Arts Center, beginning at 10 a.m. After taking a break for the July 4th holiday, he will continue each Tuesday and Thursday until August 8, 2013.
Close to Home is designed to create awareness in central Louisiana, and beyond, of all the outstanding attractions to visit, and other opportunities to shop, dine, and relax right here in our own backyard. The 2013 program will primarily focus on many of the area’s attractions in Rapides and surrounding parishes.
This year, the program will include a more “social” component. Tommy Tourist will be videoed at the visited attractions while telling about what makes that attraction so great. His adventures – via video – will be uploaded on the Alexandria/Pineville Area Convention and Visitors Bureau’s Facebook, Twitter and YouTube Channel.
The Alexandria/Pineville Area Convention and Visitors Bureau is the destination marketing organization for Rapides Parish. The APACVB can be contacted at (318) 442-9546 or toll-free at 1-800-551-9546 or online at www.theheartoflouisiana.com.
