Seven Manufacturers Announce Recalls to Repair Cribs to Address Entrapment, Suffocation and Fall Hazards

Industry Launches New Initiative to Secure Drop Sides with Free Immobilization Devices

More than two million brand-name cribs have been recalled over concerns that babies can become trapped and strangle or suffocate in the cribs.

The majority of the cribs in the recall are called drop-side cribs.

The Consumer Product Safety Commission announced the recall. They say the side rail that moves up and down can partially detach from the crib and create a gap that can trap babies' heads.

No deaths have been reported, but the Consumer Product Safety Commission says there have been at least sixteen cases of infants being trapped, and one child was found unconscious.

The crib manufacturers involved include Delta, Evenflo, Jardine, Child Craft, LaJobi, Million Dollar Baby and Simmons.
