RUSTON, La. (WVLA) — Just days after the team missed out on a bowl game Louisiana Tech is in need of a head coach. Sonny Dykes has been named the new head man for the Cal football program. He is replacing Tedford, who was fired last week.
Dykes, 43 years old, led La. Tech to a 22-15 record in three seasons at the helm of the Bulldogs.
Dykes is known as a bright offensive minded coach, whose teams averaged 35.9 points and 452.5 yards per game in his tenure in Ruston.
This year Tech was second in the nation in total offense averaging 577.92 yards a game.
The terms of Dykes’ contract haven’t been released and Cal owes former coach Jeff Tedford $6.9 million over the final three years of his deal.
