COLLEGE STATION, Texas (KWKT) — Johnny Manziel may have won the Heisman award in New York but he's not the only one winning.
Local retailers are seeing a huge boost in business as Aggie fans try to get their hands on anything they can related to Johnny Football.
It's a good problem to have in the retail business.
"We will be getting in the Heisman tees this week," Jennifer Burnett told a customer over the phone. "I can put your name on the waiting list, if you'd like."
Ever since Saturday's Heisman award show stores in Bryan-College Station, like Maroon U, have been trying to keep up with the demands and it hasn't been easy.
Burnett, director of retail sales at Maroon U says, "Our phones have been ringing off the hook and customers have been coming in every day."
Customers like Kit Clostio who came in to buy not just one but eight Heisman shirts.
"You know my brother wanted one, some friends and family, so I just decided to go ahead and get them all at once when I can."
These Heisman shirts are hot off the press and already flying off the shelves. Maroon U expects all of them to sell out by today but another shipment is being delivered Wednesday.
"We've ordered large quantities and have back-up orders so we're definitely prepared for the mad rush," says Burnett.
The bookstore on A&M's campus sold more than 2,300 Heisman shirts Monday, making it hard for Trevor Pope to find what he needs today.
"I think I'm just going to sacrifice fit so I'm going to get a size or two big just because I want something now," said Pope.
A&M's assistant vice president of business development, Shane Hinckley, says he's not surprised by the burst in sales.
"The hype of the Heisman and the success of the season, Aggie fans have been waiting for this type of thing for a long time."
And you may just have to wait a little big longer to get your Heisman gear since stores are having a hard time keeping it in stock.
