Band hopes to gain votes in Hard Rock Cafe's Global Music Competition
NEW ORLEANS — Black Magnolia, a band based in Baton Rouge, will be representing Louisiana in the global round of the Hard Rock Rising 2013 competition.
The Hard Rock Cafe hosts a yearly world wide competition to help promote unsigned musicians in all genres. Starting Monday April 22nd, at 9:00 a.m., people will be able to vote by downloading a Black Magnolia song for free on the Hard Rock Cafe Facebook page, www.facebook.com/hardrock . Voting will conclude on Wednesday, May 1, at 3:00 p.m.
The top 25 bands with the most votes will advance to the finals where a panel of judges will determine the grand prize winner. The grand prize includes an opportunity to play at the annual Hard Rock Calling Festival June 29 & 30, 2013, alongside Bruce Springsteen & The E Street Band, Alabama Shakes, The Black Crowes & Zachary Brown Band, to name a few.
Black Magnolia is a portrait of youth striving to create a seamless evolution of vintage sound with modern ferocity - a feat they continue to accomplish with each new song recorded and every show played. Emily Hingle's review of their debut album, Fields Are Burning, in the April 2013 issue of New Orleans's Where Y'at magazine states, "Black Magnolia's rock music never crosses into the realm of abrasiveness or offensiveness, however, so it will pose no barriers to anyone."
Black Magnolia needs all of Louisiana's support to advance to the top 25. Links for voting will be posted on April 22nd, 2013, on the following websites: Official Black Magnolia website (www.blackmagnolia.net ), Black Magnolia's Facebook page (www.facebook.com/blackmagnolia ), Hard Rock Cafe New Orleans's Facebook page (www.facebook.com/hardrockcafeneworleans ), and the Official Hard Rock Cafe Facebook page (www.facebook.com/hardrock ).
