BATON ROUGE, LA — The LSU baseball team is preparing for their Super Regional match up with Oklahoma. But they’re also keeping an eye on the MLB draft.
The two worlds collide this week as several Tigers are expecting to get selected.
Starting pitcher Ryan Eades was the first off the board. The left-hander was selected by the Minnesota Twins with the 43rd overall pick.
Saturday more Tigers got the life changing phone call. Jacoby Jones was picked by the Pittsburgh Pirates in the third round with the 87th overall selection.
In the next round, Mason Katz was drafted by the St. Louis Cardinals with the 125th overall pick.
Thursday, Sooners pitcher Jonathan Gray was selected by the Colorado Rockies organization with the third overall pick. Gray is second in the NCAA this season with 138 strikeouts.
Also Thursday, LSU signee Justin Williams from Terrebonne High School was selected in the second round (52nd overall) by the Arizona Diamondbacks.
The draft continues Saturday with rounds 11-40.
