ALEXANDRIA, La (WVLA) — Police are trying to figure out why a man posed as a physician and allegedly attempted to kidnap a two month old child from its hospital room.
The Alexandria Police Department was called to Rapides Regional Medical Center at around 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, March 28. When they arrived, they were advised that a man, Orlando Jones, 29, of Alexandria had attempted to kidnap an infant.
The mother of the child reported the incident to hospital staff. She says Jones entered her hospital room posed as a physician. She alleges that he attempted to kidnap her baby.
Jones was detained by hospital staff until police could arrive. He was then arrested and booked into the Rapides Parish Prison Detention Center.
Jones is charged with one count of attempted simple kidnapping.
The incident is still under investigation.
