
ALEXANDRIA, La. — Getting ready to celebrate the red, white and blue on Wednesday? Here's some events around Central Louisiana and the Miss-Lou to party on America's 236th birthday.
ALEXANDRIA:
The City of Alexandria presents Rock the Red on the 4th of July. This annual event will begin July 4 at 7:00 p.m. at Alexandria's Downtown Ampitheatre. New Orleans Southern Soul and Variety band J. Diamond Washington & Company will be performing prior to the fireworks display. Food and beverage vendors will be available. Rock the Red is free to the public to attend.
COLFAX:
The Louisiana Mudfest will get started and continue through July 8, starting with fireworks on the bayou on the 4th, and performances by Papa's Axe on the 6th and a bikini contest on the 7th. Special admission charges for this week is $40 per person.
NATCHEZ:
Fireworks show along the Mississippi River begin at 9:00 p.m. The show will be viewable on the Mississippi side from high on the Natchez bluff or along the banks on the Louisiana side in Vidalia.
