Caddo Parish, La. (KMSS) — An accused thief is caught feather-handed after the owner noticed a Craigslist ad for her bird.
Over the weekend, Caddo Parish deputies took into custody Elvis Robinson III, 33, of Shreveport, after it was discovered he had allegedly sold a stolen cockatoo.
Sunny, the umbrella cockatoo, was left in a cage on its owner’s patio on Soda Point Drive back on July 15. When the owner returned home two hours later, the $1,500.00 bird was missing.
This past Saturday, the owner noticed an ad for a cockatoo on Craig’s List. She arranged a meeting with the seller and contacted the Caddo Sheriff’s Office. At the meeting, authorities determined that the bird for sale was in fact the stolen cockatoo, Sunny. The seller told detectives he had purchased the bird for $300.00 from Elvis Robinson, III, who also lives in the 6900 block of Soda Point.
Sheriff’s Detective Michael Price arrested Robinson, 33, for felony theft and booked him into the Caddo Correctional Center.
