BATON ROUGE, La. (WGMB) — Tiger Stadium is going to be even bigger, and even tougher for opposing teams.
LSU broke ground on the new addition to the south end zone this afternoon.
There will be another 45-hundred seats, a standing-room section, and 60 more suites.
It should be finished in time for the 2014 season, and will push capacity right around 100-thousand. That will make it the 3rd-largest stadium in the SEC, and one of the biggest in the country.
The stadium expansion is part of a larger project for the athletic department, which includes a new tennis facility, practice space for the gymnastics team, and new locker rooms for the track teams.
