ALEXANDRIA, La (WNTZ) -- Déjà vu happened to the Alexandria Senior High soccer team last night in the second round of the Division II state soccer tournament.  Their match against Teurlings Catholic from Lafayette was once again a hard battle, as the ASH Trojans defeated the Rebels 4-3 in penalty kicks in quadruple overtime.

The Trojans took an early 1-0 lead, but the Rebels fought back and scored two goals to take a 2-1 lead.  In the 70th minute of the match, Hunter Green kicked the ball past Rebels' goal keeper Brant Girard to tie the game, 2-2.  Teurlings Catholic broke the tie when they scored on a rebound.

The game appeared to be done for the Trojans until the 78th minute.  The Rebels were called for a hand ball in the box.  Chad Brumley would score on the ensuing penalty kick as the match went into overtime.  ASH and Teurlings Catholic went into two overtimes and two golden goal halves.  As a result, the match would be decided by penalty kicks.

Teurlings Catholic scored, then Philip Hanna would score for the Trojans to tie the advantage.  The Trojan's goal keeper saved the game for ASH when he denied back-to-back penalty kicks. After the first save, Brooks O'Dell scored followed by Spencer Holt as the Trojans took the advantage.

The Rebels would fight back and score on their next two penalty kicks to tie the advantage.  Trojan Bailey Laborde scored on the last penalty kick through a fake in one direction and slam into the net in the other.

ASH advances to the semifinals this weekend where they will play St. Louis Catholic from Lake Charles.  The winner will advance to the LHSAA Division II State Soccer Championship Friday, Feb. 24, at Tad Gormley Stadium in New Orleans.
