Brees weighs in on Manziel autograph scandal
NEW ORLEANS, LA — Saints Quarterback Drew Brees knows what it's like to be in the spotlight. Now he's voicing his opinion on Texas A&M Quarterback Johnny Manziel.
Manziel is currently being investigated by the NCAA for allegedly being paid for autographs. Brees says he understands the pressure and attention on Manziel, who won the Heisman award as a freshman.
Brees also knows you have to be on your best behavior when you're a high profile athlete.
"I think with the reputation he has now - things are going to get spun on him a lot. It stinks, but that's reality," stated Brees.
If the NCAA finds that Manziel accepted compensation for the autographs, it could jeopardize his amateur status and playing eligibility.
