Students now turn to football season
BATON ROUGE, La. (WGMB) — By now the images are probably burned into your memory.
The sights and sounds of the Baton Rouge Super Regional won't soon be forgotten.
“It was like a punch in the stomach,” said LSU student Blake Buttersworth.
“It was really disappointing because we couldn't even hit the ball, it was a big loss,” added Spencer Crane, LSU accounting major.
For LSU fans, like the aftermath of the BCS title game, they're searching for ways to turn the page.
“It's hard because all the smack talking comes, everyone wants to know what’s worse losing to Stony Brook or losing to Alabama. Obviously losing to Bama is worse but losing to Stony Brook is not any easier,” Crane added.
When considered among the elite, there's no easy way of ending the season not on top. And with 80 days between Tuesday and the kickoff to the LSU football season Tiger fans say it can't get here soon enough.
“I can’t wait, especially after last year's loss I am just ready to get rid of that shadow that is over us,” Crane said.
“I have a lot of hope for this year, I think that USC will give us a run for our money but I think that we well do pretty well,” said Butterworth.
Unfortunately for the fans, the optimism surrounding the upcoming season won’t make the wait any shorter.
“I mean you just drink, and wait…you drink and wait,” Crane said.
