BATON ROUGE, La. (WVLA) — The recent nasty weather will be out of the way for this weekend when thousands from not only the nation, but across the world, will be in Baton Rouge for the Louisiana Marathon.
The second annual event will take runners through the Capitol Park area in downtown, and through the LSU campus. It will finish in the shadow of the State Capitol building.
The weekend-long event also has a half marathon, a 5-k and a kids marathon.
Even those who can't run, can make a difference.
"We have had over 700 volunteers that have offered to help,” Craig Sweeney, Louisiana Marathon Director, said. “It takes a small army to put on an event like this and the community has helped and it is great."
Sweeny says they're expecting over 4,000 runners from 47 different states and 12 different countries.
