Recaps from the final day of regular season

Alabama A&M 2, Mississippi Valley State 0
HUNTSVILLE, Ala. — Alabama A&M finished their stretch run by claiming the East Division title with a win over Mississippi Valley State. With the win, the Lady Bulldogs fourth straight, A&M improved to 5-12-1 and 3-1 in the SWAC. Meanwhile, MVSU fell to 6-9-2 and 2-1-1 and slipped to the third seed in the East.

Edna Mensah scored both goals for A&M, who was outshot by MVSU 12-6. After a scoreless first half, Mensah got the Lady Bulldogs on the board in the 54th minute, scoring an unassisted goal. She later added insurance in the 86th minute to put the game out of reach.

Goalkeepers Linda Aboagye and Marissa Oehler combined for the shutout. Aboagye finished with two saves and Oehler tallied five.

Alabama State 2, Alcorn State 1
MONTGOMERY, Ala. —  Alabama State ended the regular season with a win over Alcorn State on Senior Day. Iita Pienimaki and Anastasia McCleary scored the goals for the Lady Hornets who improved to 6-8-2 and 2-2. Alcorn State, who was eliminated from the postseason, ended their season at 1-10 and 0-4.

Pienimaki scored the first game of the game in the 18th minute, taking a pass from Alexandria Cannon and putting ASU on top. Then, in the 56th minute McCleary added her goal, off of an assist from Lenna Lamas.

Alcorn cut the lead in half on Kayla Power's goal in the 70th minute. However, that was all that Hornet keeper Kylee Hathaway would allow as she saved the other four shots on goal by Alcorn State.

Southern 1, Texas Southern 0
HOUSTON, Texas —  Southern may have been eliminated from postseason play, but their season ended on a high note picking up their lone win of the season. In the process, the Jaguars ruined TSU's bid for the division crown. SU ended the season 1-11-1 and 1-3 in conference play, while TSU, who will be the third seed in the West, fell to 6-13 and 2-2.

Southern only had two shots in the game, to 16 for TSU. But one shot by Fabiola Parra scored the only goal of the game. She scored unassisted in the 4th minute of the game and SU keeper Sarah Forde made it stand, making seven saves in the shutout.

Prairie View 2, Jackson State 1
PRAIRIE VIEW, Texas —  Prairie View got two pieces of good news on Sunday. First the Lady Panthers edged Jackson State in their regular season finale. Then, they got word that Southern had upset Texas Southern, giving them the West Division title and division top seed in the SWAC tournament.

Kara Ballard scored the game-winner for PVAM off of an assist from Yosselyn Aguilar in the 78th minute, breaking a 1-1 tie. Aguilar also had an assist on the first goal of the game as Ariana Roundtree scored in the 31st minute. JSU tied the game with a goal and assist by Shahamin Nunes and Kimberlie Hernandez.
