There is less than a month to go till the tigers kick off the 2012-2013 season.

Saturday thousands of the Tigers' most faithful fans flocked to LSU's campus for the 2012 LSU Fan Day.

It's a chance for die hard fans to get up close and personal with their favorite football stars.

"Zach Mettenberger and pretty much everybody," said Tiger fan Sara Thompson. "We want to definitely see the main stars."

"You know the list is this long, but you know what i'm excited," said Luke "the Mad Hatter" Blount. "I want to meet up with Ford you know the whole running back game."

The longest line wasn't for any of the players. The real "Mad Hatter" Les Miles was the man to see or at least sign your Tiger trophy.

But, one player's presence was noticeably missing, Tyrann "Honey Badger" Mathieu. Friday Les Miles made it clear Mathieu was off the team for good.

Many fans say that while they are upset at the loss of Mathieu, but they think the Tigers will be just fine honey badger free.

"We got a black eye," said Blount. "We are going to live from it. We are going to move forward, and you know we are a number one team. It just didn't take the one player to get us to number one."

"He had his chances," said Thompson. "I think we can do it without him."

Now fans have only one thing left to do wait. It will be a few more weeks to see their boys in purple and gold go for glory in death valley.

The Tigers' first game is on Sept. 1. They will play North Texas at Tiger Stadium.
