STORM CLOSURES

LOUISIANA STATEWIDE

  • State offices are closed on Monday in the following parishes: Ascension, Assumption, Lafourche, Livingston, Jefferson, Orleans, Plaquemines, St. Bernard, St. Charles, St. James, St. Tammany, Tangipahoa, Terrebonne and Washington
     
  • Amtrak is canceling two days of train service in Louisiana. On Tuesday and Wednesday, the Crescent's route from New York will end in Atlanta, and the Sunset Limited from Los Angeles will end in San Antonio, Texas. Ticket holders can get a refund or a voucher for future travel.
     
  • Evangeline Downs Racetrack & Casino has cancelled racing for Wednesday, Aug. 29 and plan to resume Thursday Aug. 30.
     
  • The Elderly Meal Site in Avoyelles, Catahoula, Concordia, Grant, LaSalle, Rapides and Winn Parishes will be closed Wednesday and Thursday.
     
  • LSU Health's statewide network of hospitals will remain open and ready to treat emergencies during and after the storm. Each hospital has discharged non-critical patients, cancelled elective surgeries and increased staff and services as needed in preparation for Hurricane Isaac. However, there are temporary closures of some outpatient clinics and services at the following locations:


    -- Earl K. Long Medical Center – Baton Rouge- will discontinue all elective surgeries and close outpatient clinics on Wednesday, Aug. 29, and Thursday, Aug. 30. EKLMC will resume normal operations on Friday, Aug. 31.

    -- The Interim LSU Public Hospital - New Orleans -will discontinue all elective surgeries and close outpatient clinics on Wednesday, Aug. 29, and Thursday, Aug. 30. The Interim LSU Public Hospital will resume normal operations on Friday, Aug. 31, at 7a.m.

    -- Lallie Kemp Regional Medical Center- Independence - has cancelled all outpatient clinics, elective surgeries, chemotherapy infusion and is on surgery diversion for Tuesday, Aug. 28, and Wednesday, Aug. 29. LKRMC will resume normal operations on Thursday, Aug. 30, beginning at 7 a.m.

    -- Leonard J. Chabert Medical Center – Houma- has cancelled all outpatient clinics and elective surgeries for Tuesday, Aug. 28, and Wednesday, Aug. 29. LJCMC will resume normal operations on Thursday, Aug. 30 at 7a.m.

    -- LSU Bogalusa Medical Center - Bogalusa – will discontinue all elective surgeries and will close clinics effective 7 a.m., Tuesday Aug. 28, through Wednesday, Aug. 29. LSU BMC will resume normal operations on Thursday, Aug. 30, at 7 a.m.

    -- University Medical Center – Lafayette – All outpatient clinics and elective surgeries are canceled Wednesday, Aug. 29. The hospital will resume normal operations on Thursday, Aug. 30, at 7a.m.

    -- Walter O. Moss Regional Medical Center – Lake Charles – All services are operational.
     

MISSISSIPPI STATEWIDE

  • Biloxi VA Medical Center closed Tuesday and Wednesday

UNIVERSITY CLOSURES

  • Alcorn State University - will cancel classes in Lorman, Natchez, and Vicksburg on Wednesday and Thursday. Classes resume Friday at 8:00 a.m. August 29th and August 30th, university staff will be expected to conduct business as usual.
     
  • Baton Rouge Community College - closed Tuesday and Wednesday
     
  • Copiah-Lincoln Community College - will close all three of its campuses (Natchez, Wesson and Simpson County) at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday.  The closure will cancel all afternoon and evening classes on Tuesday and all classes Wednesday.
     
  • Delgado Community College - closed until Thursday
     
  • Herzing College (Louisiana) - closed Monday and Tuesday
     
  • Louisiana College - closed until Tues. Sept. 4
     
  • LSU at Alexandria - campus will close at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday and will remain closed through Thursday.  The closure includes the main campus, Alexandria Museum of Art, Business Education Center, A.C. Buchanan Allied Health Building and the Learning Center for Rapides Parish.  Classes will resume on Friday.
     
  • LSU at Eunice - classes will close Tuesday at 3:00 p.m. and will be closed on Wednesday
     
  • LSU Baton Rouge - will be closed Tuesday and Wednesday
     
  • Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College - all campuses will meet for Monday night classes, but will be closed Tuesday and Wednesday
     
  • Our Lady of Holy Cross College (New Orleans) - closed until Thursday
     
  • Nicholls State University - closed Monday and Tuesday
     
  • Northwestern State University of Louisiana - all campuses are closed through Friday and will reopen on Tuesday, Sept 4
     
  • Pearl River Community College (Miss.) - will close Tuesday and Wednesday following night classes Monday. Classes are scheduled to resume at 8 a.m. on Thursday morning.
     
  • Southeastern Louisiana University - campus and satellite locations in Livingston, St. Tammany and East Baton Rouge parishes will close Monday at 3:30 p.m. All classes, activities, and athletic events will be canceled through Wednesday.
     
  • Southern University in Baton Rouge - closed Tuesday and Wednesday
     
  • Southern University at New Orleans - closed Tuesday and Wednesday
     
  • Tulane University - will close at 5:00 p.m. Monday and will be closed Tuesday and Wednesday
     
  • Tulane University Gulf Coast Campus in Biloxi - will close at 5:00 p.m. Monday and will be closed Tuesday and Wednesday 
     
  • University of Louisiana at Lafayette - classes will close at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday and closed on Wednesday
     
  • University of New Orleans - will close at noon Monday and will remain closed Tuesday and Wednesday
     
  • University of Southern Mississippi - class closed Tuesday and Wednesday, includes Gulf Coast Campus
     
  • Virginia College (Miss.) - closed at noon Monday and remain closed through Thursday
     
  • William Carey University - main campus in Brookhaven and Tradition Campus in Biloxi are closed Tuesday and Wednesday

PARISH/COUNTY CLOSURES


ADAMS, MS

  • Alcorn State University campus in Natchez will cancel classes on Wednesday and Thursday. Classes resume Friday at 8:00 a.m. August 29th and August 30th, university staff will be expected to conduct business as usual.
     
  • Copiah-Lincoln Community College in Natchez closed at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday. The closure will cancel all afternoon and evening classes on Tuesday and all classes Wednesday and Thursday.
     
  • Natchez-Adams School District will be closed Wednesday and Thursday.
     
  • Adams County Christian School will be closed Thursday.
     
  • Cathedral School will be closed Wednesday and Thursday.
     
  • Trinity Episcopal Day School closed at 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday and will close all day Wednesday and Thursday.
     
  • Natchez City Hall will remain open for regular hours.
     
  • Natchez Visitors Center remains open.
     
  • Melrose Plantation and Willam Johnson House closed at noon on Monday and will remain closed until at least Thursday.
     
  • Historic Jefferson College and the Grand Village of the Natchez Indians will be closed on Wednesday.
     
  • Natchez Mall will close at 5 p.m. Tuesday and will be closed on Wednesday.
     
  • Adams County Courthouse will close at 3 p.m. today and remain closed Wednesday.
     
  • Natchez's WIN Job Center will be closed until further notice.
     
  • Natchez VA Outpatient Clinic will be closed Thursday.
     
  • Isle of Capri Casino will be open unless weather conditions change.
     
  • Britton & Koontz Bank will open at 11:30 a.m. Thursday.
     
  • United Mississippi Bank will open at 10:00 a.m. Thursday.
     
  • Nation Park Service closed Natchez Trace from southern terminus at Liberty Road in Natchez to U.S. Highway 61 near the town of Washington due to possibility off falling trees and debris.
     


ALLEN, LA

  • Allen Parish Public Schools are closed Wednesday and Thursday.

 

AVOYELLES, LA

  • Avoyelles Parish Public Schools are closed Wednesday and Thursday. Friday will be determined later based on weather activity.

 

CATAHOULA, LA

  • Catahoula Parish Public Schools will be closed Wednesday and Thursday. School will re-open Friday, August 31st.

 

CONCORDIA, LA

  • Concordia Parish Public Schools will be closed Wednesday and Thursday. School will re-open Friday, August 31st.
     
  • City/Town halls in Ferriday and Vidalia will be open Wednesday and Thursday.
     
  • Concordia Council on Aging meal sites will be closed until Tuesday, Sept. 4

 

GRANT, LA

  • Grant Parish Public Schools will be closed Wednesday and Thursday. School will re-open Friday, August 31st.

 

LASALLE, LA

  • LaSalle Parish Public Schools closed Wednesday and Thursday.
     
  • Temple Christian Academy will be closed Wednesday and Thursday.

 

RAPIDES, LA

  • LSU at Alexandria will close at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday and will remain closed through Thursday. The closure includes the main campus, Alexandria Museum of Art, Business Education Center, A.C. Buchanan Allied Health Building and the Learning Center for Rapides Parish. Classes will resume on Friday.
     
  • Louisiana College will be closed until Tues. Sept. 4.
     
  • Central Louisiana Technical Community College is closed on Wednesday & Thursday
     
  • Rapides Parish Public Schools will be closed Wednesday and Thursday. School will re-open Friday, August 31st.
     
  • Alexandria Country Day School will be closed Wednesday and Thursday
     
  • Blue Cliff College in Alexandria will be closed Wednesday and Thursday.
     
  • Northwestern State University campus in Alexandria will be closed at 2:30pm Tuesday and closed Wednesday and Thursday. All other NSU campuses will remain open
     
  • Upper Iowa University at Alexandria closed Tues at 2:30 p.m. and will reopen on Friday at 8:00 a.m.
     
  • St. Francis & St. Anne Catholic Churches in Kolin- All CCD classes cancelled Wednesday
     
  • Alpine Christian schools in Tioga closed Wednesday and Thursday
     
  • Rapides Parish Police Jury offices will be closed Wednesday
     
  • Rapides Council On Aging, Inc. will be closed Wednesday and Thursday All services will resume on Friday, Aug. 31. All Home Delivered Meals will be delivered on Friday, Aug. 31.
  • All locations of the Rapides Parish Library will be closed all day Aug. 29 and 30, 2012. All Library locations hope to open at their regularly scheduled times on Friday, Aug. 31.
     
  • Rapides Regional Medical Center is not anticipating it will have to postpone any medical procedures scheduled for Wednesday or Thursday. The Outpatient Center will also remain open. In addition, the Rapides After Hours urgent care clinic in Pineville will be open its normal operating hours, which are from 1-9 p.m. Monday through Friday, and from 9 a.m.-6 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday.
     
  • The United Way Kickoff scheduled for Tuesday at Coughlin-Saunders Performing Arts Center has been cancelled.
     

VERNON, LA

  • Vernon Parish Public Schools are closed Wednesday and Thursday.
     
  • Our Little Daycare of New Llano is closed Wednesday.
