BATON ROUGE, LA — Tropical Storm Gabrielle formed south of Puerto Rico hours after the National Hurricane Center began issuing advisories for Tropical Depression Seven.
On Wednesday evening, winds strengthened enough to label the system as a tropical storm.
Similar to Tropical Depression Seven's track, the National Hurricane Center's forecast takes Tropical Storm Gabrielle northward over the next, few days, with a gradual turn northeast by the weekend. It will turn east of the Bahamas around Friday, then move into the the open waters of the western Atlantic Ocean through next week.
Areas in the Gulf of Mexico and continental United States will not see any impacts from Gabrielle.
